I make sculpture that starts on a screen and ends in a room. The modelling happens in software built for video games. The object is printed at full size and finished by hand. It is a fast, cheap and thoroughly unglamorous way to make something monumental, and I don’t think fine art has caught up with what it can do yet.

I was raised Christian. I am not anymore, and the imagery never left. Cardinals, popes, and the angels scripture actually describes — not gentle winged comforters but cosmic and monstrous things beyond comprehension. I am not trying to demolish that iconography. I am arguing with it. A papal throne with a woman on it the Church would never have allowed. A cardinal holding his phone in the awkward grip of anybody’s grandfather. A god with no eyes, because why would a god need them.

The work tends to end in the same place: grandeur collapsing into something ordinary, and staying interesting once it has.
